Chinese Antiques, China Now: More Glorious, More Rich

To have a plan on where you are going does make it more likely your plans become realized. The state plans beloved by Communist Chinese hearts can look at huge concepts and see future projections made realities year after year. Five year plans come and go, and when the state plans take in the vastly greater industrial power of capitalism from the west, can the east grow ever richer. To understand China is to feel the sense of urgent destiny in each grand gesture and in the style and ways of China to display its new and glorious destiny.

With city states such as Jericho yet to be uncovered in China, going back the ten thousand years as does Jericho to unveil deeper truths of the past. As it is, Damascus in Syria is considered to be the oldest continually inhabited settlement on earth, with Sumeria, Babylon and Egypt all nearby. In China as in the middle east digs into middens reveals older cultures further down, thnese excavations continue with human and animal bones. Most digs in China have only uncovered back five thousand years so far.

But as peoples have inhabited these plains forty thousand years, surely new digs and finds are yet to be uncovered. Most recent DNA samples seems to indicates that modern humans arrived into easter Asia by forty thousand years ago, and continued their migration up eastern Asia and over the land bridge to the Americas around thirty thousand years ago. It had been thought the peoples who went west into Europe had moved over from the Levant, however this view has been proven incorrect: Europe was instead populated by peoples from India and Persia.

With China, there was a direct family connection with those family leaving Africa for India and the south Pacific and Australia. With China, a northern branch of the humanity family tree branch differently in various ways including eyes and skin color. The closer to the equatorial sun the darker the skin needed to be, the farther north the more eyes and skin could lighten to absorb more sunlight. Thus can be seen darker skin Sri Lankans in the south contrast to lighter skin Indians north in Delhi.

As China is farther north than India such contrasts are not so obvious in China. Here the subtle ways are in the land. Vast China is cut in half by the mighty Yangstze River which enters the South China Sea near Shanghai. As this mighty river winds due west into the heart of China and as it is at the natural climate zone to divide crops, we find wheat crops grow north of the Yangtze, rice grows south of the Yangstze. So Shanghai is a gathering place of two different crop growing cultures, and all the other effects that would naturally grow out of that.

Silk plants to weave baskets would be very different than a wheat grass basket, and any other reed plants that are limited to either a cold or hot crop area. What you can learn from all this is shown in the types of plants inscribed onto say Mings and things. Whether you awaken to the celestial wisdom required to have you buy heiroom Chinese antiques today, as a lay away plan for tomorrow that will certainly come. And when your future buyer wants to view your Mings and things, you know the plan. You buy low now before several hundred million Chinese go from new middle class to new rich class. Give it a decade.

A decade from now, all your dusting and enjoying your Chinese antiques will pay off rather handsomely, when your email rings. You must now give special respect to the rich new buyer of her family Mings and things, who wondered where her great grand mothers Mings and things were. And what do you know, but Google says they reside on your mantle, you sly fox. When she arrives, reminded her how deeply your bow of great respect (and high price)your Chinese antiques are. She must take off her shoes.

Proud buyer of your Mings and things will pay too much when she is rich enough and proud enough. You merely smile, give great kowtow, that is great low bow, you smile, enjoy.

It is glorious to have a rich and civilied culture, and it is even more glorious to become rich today as well.

Diamonds Are A Girls Best Friend, Again

One of the sweet benefits of the aging process is that you get to go shopping with your grand daughters and that somehow it is so much easier at the same age than it had been with your daughters. The lack of direct authority, perhaps, allows the grand daughters to speak more freely. Also, as a parent I was younger, more rushed, more goal oriented which would have put pressure on my daughters. With my grand daughters, if they don’t see anything they like, that’s fine, really, and not a waste of time that would make them feel guilty.

With the grand daughters, we are all liberated from those old parental urges and teenage angst. And how the grand daughters shop is also more liberating, and liberated. Take diamonds, which are not on each weekend’s mall walk, and now for a reason. Where their mothers had steered clear of blood diamonds from Africa, events have trnspired to take those blood diamonds off the market with wars and warlords later, the world has moved on. And massive new diamond finds in Australia and in Canada have flooded the market with precious near diamonds of near perfect size and quality.

Our grand daughters know that blood diamonds are old news, and that new diamonds can be purchased in bulk amidst bargain sales over the net, which did not exist until recently. But now, the grand daughters have discovered low bid auctions, and have their friends over for a web party. Not every viewing party results in a purchase. But when that happens, there is much laughter and cheering. It gives me a warm feeling to see their triumphant gestures when they have pulled off a win.

In contrast, these days when we are at the mall the grand daughters are interested in the clothes: apparently they have to see it, feel it, amd then one of a handful, they try it on. Once the garment has been tried on the decision is quickly made, usually negative if the garment makes the wearer look fat. And this comment from a grand daughter as slender as a model. A diamond of a human being really, brains and beauty, and as well a quiet inner determination. It is well to observe your good works being acted out in a generation beyond that which you sweated so much about.

Now, at the grand parent stage it all seems so easy and natural, this process of birthing, creating and growing perfect people. You set your standards high and your children saw that and were influenced by that and it all became part of who she was to be, adapted by all the things that influenced that along the way. And now her children tell you that mom doesn’t understand, and you go for a walk together and talk about that. You talk about the pressures of being a parent today, and how bothneed to work to pay the family finances, pressures a teen will learn much about all too soon.

How these diamonds of human beings affect your judgement will be seen in your behavior towards others. Do you show empathy for others? Or are you quick to take advantage of another’s error? Our grand children are looking and listening while we unconsciously walk our talks each day in life. How much they need your love and approval will determine to what extent they incorporate your bad habits with your good. For they will hopefuly have heard honest fair values discussed at a Sunday School or some youth group or even at school.

How well you encourage their worthy behaviors will be shown soon enough in the compliments or complaints you receive from others about their behaviors. Loose diamonds are not only a commodity now available over the web, they could well stand for those individual souls we have put so much love and good values into that we know we have cast a diamond out among with ordinary carbons of life.

Marco Polo And The Perfect Chinese Kowtow

Marco Polo had been warned by his father and his uncle on the etiquette of court in ancient Cathay, China to our modern mind. How well you expressed your kowtow, that is your bow to the emperor, said much about your wise use of subtle means to express deeper desires. Marco had many opportunities to practice his bows, and made good use of each new meeting with friend of foe, all would be rreceived by Marco with a generous bow, a very respectful deep bow, some times too deep for one of low station, but Marco erred on the side of wise prudence.

That is, a too effusive bow to a serving person was better than having offended a moody warlord. After coming up over the great hump of Asia from the Black Sea to the Gobi Desert, Marco had studied eye contact with many a trader and fellow traveller. He had faced them all off, and had tried to show by his ragged ways he was a beggar of no worth use to rob. The Polos walked mostly alongside their pack animals these many thousands of miles journey. With the Great Wall out of sight but never too far to their north, they arrived finally in Beijing just past the desert edges.

In great Beijing was the Forbidden City, the fabled home of the emperor and his court. Here was the great symbol of the people and name of China in elegant Tiammamen Square. Up to modern times any volice of dissent has been attempted here. As from back to the days of Confucious up to now, a deep kowtow to the might and weight of the emperor is wise. To stand your ground before a tank of the army of the emperor is to be ground down before the eyes of the world, in ensuring images that sear the mind and seal the fate of millions.

Marco Polo would have known that it was wiser to bow low and deep in a gesture of loyalty, Marco would have done more than, and soon than, what was expected of him. This simple logic applies within any system, and should be applied with grace and serene good will to all. Marco would entertain lightly, playfully, mock a stumble by himself to the giggle of the ladies in court. The perfect kowtow would sweepingly enjoin all the room in attendant to both join the bow to the emperor, but also receive in its way with the bow becoming rather like an athletic wave.

The wave seems to sweep al before it, and all seem to join their bodies ever so slightly in a mutual long low bow. The playful nature of Marco probably both graced and deceived Marco. More often Marco saw his fortune rise due to his witty ways that caused the emperor to smile than frown. Any frown Marco was quick to detect, and quicker to repair. For Marco was an apt student of people, and he could detect a smile from a frown and correct quickly. In contrast Marco was an innocent diversion at court and the tales of their Christian faith interested him greatly.

In a great act of kowtow Marco even carried a message to the Pope in Rome to send one thousand Christian monks or scholars to teach his people a religion to settle them down. Marco did complete this journey and the new Pope decided not to act. On his second trip to Cathay Marco found that the emperor had instead received one thousand scholar of Buddhism from India, so the Catholitc Christians were no longer welcome. However by 1250 Christianity had lost its golden opportunity to have broken into China as the state religion.

And because the emperor wanted a religion to make the people easier to managed. How you make use of your understanding of the rare intimite nature of Chinese antiques and how they came to be available. While the lead lined Neds push their buggys filled with lead melamine copies, watch them watch you as you check the net for web Mings and things. Imagine a decade from now, when some just now middle class, customer one day sooner richer, want grand mothers Mings and things.

That you own, price is nos so much more than what you did pay. Who could have even imagined? You could, you did, Marco - great buy, greater sell.

Description

To be able to kowtow, that is bow low to the emperor and those in Court meant all the difference in how successful you were in your royal visit.

Chinese Antiques, Marco Polo And The Silk Road

Marco Polo and his father and uncle discovered a new, more northern Silk Road to Chinese antiques when they alighted from their sailing vessel on the north east coast of the Black Sea. They walked north east and found an established east-west trading Silk Road around the north end of the Aral Sea, and from here they passed a series of mountain ranges and were generally able to fairly easily bypass most mountain routes and traverse this more northern Silk Road to Cathay, or China to us now. Their road had them walk across barren fields by a lush Aral Sea. Marco would not recognize the Aral Sea today.

Today the Aral Sea continues to shrink because of global warming and wasteful irrigation. The sea shore is littered with signs of dead sea life and relics of ships miles from the receding sea. In his day 1220 man had not yet deveolved the power to taint the earth and darken the skies: that was up as volcanic furies from the gods. As you hiked eastward your journey lifts as you hike up over the great bulk of earth around the mighty Himalaya Mountains. As you pass through that classic corridor in east Afghanistan you enter the western desert areas, and Indo European Afghan peoples changes to Mongol like peoples.

The Mongol type peoples of the Gobi Derest regions are usually controlled by the central authority in Beijing, but only warily so. This sparsely populated area of Mongol type peoples are always a worry to the central authorities, as they have alien ideas and too much open land to allow them to live free. This Silk road could never have supported the silk worm, which is a tender creature that needs a warm moist winter that does not exist at any way along the Silk road, until the final detour off to the right and down over the mighty Yangstze River.

Your Silk Road leaves Beijing and continues south, as Marco Polo would have found to his impatience. For it was just not done that a foreigner could be allowed tolive to see a silk plantation and survive to tell the tale. But not only did Marco live to see the silk plant, but he became familiar with the nurture and care of the silk worm. Temperature was vital, in event of a sudden unexpected frost this would cause the laying of thick mattresses of plants, corn stalk, wheat rice and bamboo, being put on fire as needed.

These practices are continued to this day in the moderating a sudden frost with protective smoke barriers to break cold spells. Marco would have kowtowed his deep low bow to the emperor, to ensure his approval was granted. Marco would have had members of the court accompany him, and there would have been merriment and laughter along the way. To be a part of the inner court and be a part of the playful banter was to feel part of the inner court, the classic In Set.

The life back in the Forbidden City in Beijing can experience hot desert summer but cold bitter Siberian winter winds. In his several year in Cathay, Marco learned to try to enjoy Beijing in the spring and the fall, and avoid therefore the burning Gobi desert summer, or the freezing Siberian winter. It was bliss to be able to negotiate travel time that had you visit the silk plantations in their moist warm winter. There are fabled towns in south China with Venice of the Orient names for good reason.

Here, elegant bridges loop over gentle brooks carrying many canoes laden with flowers, foods, fruits, vegetables of many colors. The warmer southern climate that is the reeal end of the Silk road is a cornucopia of splendor. Marco and his father and his uncle would likely onlyh feel agreeable about travelling north to the Forbidden City only after spring breezes were wafting north in the May breezes. Whether you see the merit in buying Chinese antiques, or if you agree with lead head Ned who buys shiny new Chinese modern with their melamine lead pots, the profit is in the action by you.

Imagine a decade from now, if you buy some Mings and things now. By then, a decade lateer some middle class Susie Wongs will be wanting to upgrade. If she Googles what happened to her great grand mothers Mings and things, and finds the new owner is - you, she will give you a call. Well, Marco, you make her pay. Ask her to take off her slipper at your door. Bow very low, deep kowtow. Ask way too much, and stay firm. Enjoy, this is your retirement golden parachute. Enjoy your moment, Marco, you looked into the future and saw that the money would flow from Chinese antiques. Enjoy your trickle down, hero.

In times of Chinese antiques, Marco Polo and his father and uncle carved a new more northern Silk Road between Europe to China.

Marco Polo And The Silk Road To China

By 1220 AD when Marco Polo and his father and his uncle began their treck eastward, they had to carve a route from Europe to the China of Chinese antiques. There had long been a Silk Road to the east from Damascus. In fact as Damascus was the western terminus of this thousands of miles long trading route, the finely woven silk Damask was created in Damascus, the oldest continually inhabited human settlement on earth. The great arc of civilization lifted around Jericho, down through Mesopotamia and Sumer, and in the fertile Nile delta of Egypt.

This area became the cradle of civilization, as it was the first wave of humanity out of Africa. The peoples living in this area had the most time to evolve their ways of mastering their local environment and how they adapted themselves and the local crops and the domstication of animals moved humanity forward from tribal to urban, at least in the first city state effect of ten thousand year old Jericho before all, then the fertile crescent of Mesopotamia at Sumer and then Babylon, and fertile Nile delta Egypt. We now know this area as Syria, Isreal, Palestine, Jordan, Egypt, Iraq,Turkey and Iran known as the Levant and area.

We know that civilization in Europe came directly from India. History shows the westward drift of civilization from India came to us through the Persian Empire, who had roots in nearby India; who fought against, yet were absorbed into western thought and mathematics. Carved statues in ancient Persia shows kings walking hand in hand in harmony, and this was centuries before Roman power with emperors who made themselves Gods, as Alexander had done. Alexander had defiled decent concepts of free will.

Free will, in good or evil are Indian, not Chinese in their influence. Chinese talents praise the emperor and allow that the highest duty is to serve the emperor, or the state. The Sanskrit words of India are the basis of modern wetern expression, math came to us from the Arabs. Yet it was mysterious Cathay and its more mythic Silk Road that drew medieval Venetian travelers drawn to the possible route to the mysterious east. Travel between the west and the east has often held unpleasant suprises, an Marco Polo came prepared for this, as his father and uncle had before him.

With Marco Polo it was a natural route to follow as his uncle and father had completed with success. That is, their trading vessel would take them down past the Dalmatian Coast and around Greece, up the Dardanelles and through the Bosporus at Constantinople into the Black Sea. Here they would transverse up to the north east edge of the Black Sea, and begin to meet and interview temporary guides to the east. This was best arranged with tokens of tribute, but no show of wealth ever.

Any foolish enough to display wealth could easily die on the trail, or in dark alleys. In those days of 1220’s Silk Road to China entailed many obstructions of a physical or human nature. Each had to be handled in its way. Aragged mountain pass on the descent down from the great high plateaus of Tibet down to the burning sands and brackish water of the Gobi Desert. By then looking quite ragged theselves by then, Marco Polo would fight off fear and a sense of desperation and continue to encourage the pack animals to move further along.

Even if you or I were not on that 1220’s series of walks along the Silk Road, you can display the sense of urgency about realizing your moment, and what to do next. With Marco, it was to keep well hidden his cache of diamonds to trade for rolls of silks and packets of spices. How you buy now while their nas not been a notable rise in price allows you time to gather your Mings in May, so to speak. For when the autumn winds of a decade from now will be here all so soon. And Who will the new rich Chinese buyer want to see.

When the buyer of your Chinese antiques has searched and asked Google who owns her great grand mothers Mings and things. And she finds that the owner is - you. How you handle her will require serene inner wisdom; kowtows by you should be graceful and supreme. Make her pay, Marco. You have shown infinite wisdom, smile with inner acceptance, you hold your retirement porfolio of success, enjoy.

To consider how China today is the same, yet different with the Chinese Antiques shop tradition of Marco Polo is to speak of a riddle within a riddle. China is the mystery that is unfolding before our eyes, with more transparency than ever, yet mysterious as ever. The China of Genghis Khan was a peaceful land and most armies of China were no match for the smaller forces of Mongols. Each large populated valley of Chinese to fall to the forces of Genghis often suffered great slaughter. Yet always the most gifted artisans and craftsmen were saved.

These chosen excellences were to be sent to the growing capital at Beijing where fine art works were created. Such an irony that great slaughter created a feverish, life saving flourish of finest art works. Each new conquest brought new waves of craftsmen who would affect the art created during their ascendency. The Golden Hordes came only after enough conquests of Chinese areas allowed the armies to have sufficient waves of humanity. Often the villagers of a recent conquest were herded ahead of his armies as Genghis and his forces moved westward.

To be one with a gift was to hold in your hands life savings abilities you were careful to cultivate. To have such a gift was to know and understand that you chose your subject matter with care in ways to ensure the emperor was pleased and your efforts ensured you a long and harmonious life. If you had any individual thoughts you kept them to yourself. Or you found small ways to make your work stand separately from the others making your art work or treasure. This in the era of Ming you might be remembered as the great craftsman of that era, if not for your real name.

But to be known as the Ming of the craftsmanship of that era was to hold noble achievements in deed. From the times of Confucious all knew that the greatest achievements one can hope is to serve the emperor well. The question of personal responsibility or search for life, liberty or the pursuit of happiness does not enter the historic Chinese equation. The great sweeping waves of humanity seen at the closing cremonies of the Beijing Olympics proves the point: all great sweeping movements of people shows China as one in harmony with the billion.

Todays modern day Marco Polo must keep his aim high and watch this great surge of humanity on its way to becoming the most glorious new civilization on earth. China is also now the most dynamic society while it undergoes a massive transformation in decades what western societies took centuries to accomplish. We miss the point, that the hundreds of millions of Chinese are on their way to greater wealth. We buy their lead lined modern pots and ignore their Chinese antiques. Buy low sweet chariot, buy low now and let time do its thing.

Imagine a decade from now, when Ms Wong checks the net to find great grand mothers Mings and things. She finds they were purchased an inflation driven decade earlier by an astute investor - you. Smile sweet, investor chariot, allow hedge fund fun to play your way finally this big time. You hooked your wagon to one heck of a predictable yet hidden means to wealth production. But you must do more than have the vision. You must also act on it now, and in such a richly expansive market to find and hold your mings and things.

Step lively, Marco before you are looking at the rear ends of the horses of fashion arrive. Your time is now. Let the horses see the back of you! Let it be you who ponies into the front of the pack before the main crowd gathers.

When we come down off that impressive high China gave us we can reflect on what all we saw, even as we resume our always busy lives. The pyro techniques were awesome as was the sea of performers. We watched as they did execute their subtle moves with such precision. China has ramped up performance and show one large new step, and not for the first time in history. China will be heard now, more clearly than ever, while we buy their products and bemoan our local economic health.

China has been great before, and when it, or its Mongol proxies hurled out of China and at the western world there has been terror and death. The China of Marco Polo might serve as reminder. We know that Genghis Khan built his armies slowly and with care. Genghis might slaughter most in a city, but would invariably save the finest artisans and craftsmen and send back to Beijing to perform their crafts. Thus with irony during times of great slaughter to those in the angry path of the armies of Genghis, great art works were being created in the capital.

Fortunately for history and the heads of Marco Polo and his father and uncle stayed on their shoulders by the grace of God and Genghis. Marco became an instant master of the respectful deep bow of service to the emperor and those in Court, the kowtow, deep bow. Marco learned how to enchant young ladies of the Court with his smiling bow, gracing and making blush each princess. The great irony is that today we ignore Chinese antiques and shop low price modern. Leave the buggy load of lead lined pots to Ned, Marco.

Stop, drop and roll with your vision. Imagine the present millions of Chinese middle class in a decade. New rich princess, lets call several million of them Susie Wong, will tire of their state monitored gadgets and wonder who now owns grand mothers Mings and things. A check on the web shows the owner is none other than you. Make her pay, Marco. Be inscrutible. Request she take off her shoes as you charm and bow to her while she studies your mantle. Lined with her Mings and things. Smile in ways mysterious to all but you.

She will brag she met you. Your retirement nest egg fund has just pulled in. Lucky you had such vision a decade earlier to buy low sweet chariot. Buy low and sell when she’s high.

Recent articles have reminded us that the land of ancient Perisia seems msyterious threat and source of comfort on what it has given to us all. To have been of the Persian empire was to have so inside the tent of civilized behavior, commerce, trust of the rights each other, property, values, languages.

When Alexander conquered the world he really only took over all of the areas that had been under the command of Persia at its height. To see the glorious richness, and the softness of kings holding hands, sweet harmony. This enormous difference of what would on on display such as in Rome was gentle refined civility, not the head in the hand of all elsewhere. Alexander, our civilized genius tore and burned this magnificent Perspolis enough that Persia has never rebuilt at the site.

And yet Greek culture arrived in full majesty, as Alexander married Roxanne, daughter of Darius, and urged large ceremonial marriage bettwen thousand of his men with ladies of Persia. So, through to Afghanistan we see monuments, and blue eys, of Greece and there are many an Alexander or Roxanne in many a small village the the land. The arrival of Islam cause many rifts which have not healed: the fact that Iranians are not Arab brought immediate fracture which stands.

What we need to remember is that the population of Iran today is double that in 1978. The new Iran does not really hate America, they are ordered to, some do, most do not. Universities are rife with free voices. The mad mullahs reject voices other than their own, insisting it is only they who speak to God.

What rich cruel irony that Iran and Isreal, similiar attutudes to the rest of the world, face each other off.Thank God they do not share border, fear God and Allah for missiles and nuclear weapons. Pray we pry. So for now, we play tennis with our good hand tied behind our back. And our racket up our ass. How when or why we recover, get the broom out all asses, get back to talking, and talk things out. The mad mullahs will fade, even while rages through all Araby.

We must remember: these are not Arabs. These are our direct grandparents. And surely love can reach through to blood.

So on we go. We need to reach out to each other and find ways to communicate more, not build up walls to deeper mistrust and hatred. Such arrogance in the face of God and Allah and Buddha must really stop, when we do finally really my blood is your blood is their blood and stop the bleeding. It is time for a cilized way to enjoy an afternoon. Let’s play tennis, anyone?

Description

The Iran we love to fear and loathe is modern Persia, the first true western civilization out of the dark red clay of Africa. Out of here came light.
